Care

Our services here at Respite range from infant care and before and after school care, to overnight and emergency care.

The children served by the Respite Care program have a variety of disabilities. Some are physically disabled by cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, childhood disease, genetic abnormalities, or accident. They may be intellectually bright and active, but may be limited in their physical mobility or communication skills. Other children have sound bodies but have special cognitive challenges such as Downe syndrome, genetic etiologies for mental retardation, brain damage due to birth trauma, and mental limitations of unknown causes, leaving these children mildly, moderately, severely, or profoundly mentally retarded. Some children are sensorially handicapped by blindness, deafness, or speech defects.

We serve families throughout Larimer County who have children between the ages of birth and 21 years old, all faced with some type of developmental disability. The need for Respite Care is tremendous and we are filling an important void in the lives of these dedicated families allowing them to keep their children at home. Essential to these needs are the dedication and love of our staff and trained volunteers.

Fees for utilizing Respite Care services are based on a sliding scale determined by gross annual family income. Our facility is able to accept children on a space availability basis only.
